How can we innovatively highlight the strategy of our parent company E.ON to our employees?
How can we creatively draw attention to the strategy of parent company E.ON among our employees? This was the question Essent Netherlands asked. A detailed strategy document or presentation doesn’t resonate with everyone. Therefore, Essent turned to Frisse Blikken. Together, we developed an eye-catching interactive podcast.
Essent is one of the largest energy suppliers in the Netherlands. In addition to providing gas and electricity to millions of Dutch people, the company is also leading the charge in the energy transition.

Engaging Employees Interactively
Essent had a clear vision of what it wanted: a unique way to highlight E.ON’s corporate strategy that would make an impact. To capture employees’ attention and truly involve them in the strategy, we proposed an interactive podcast: the Strategy Safari. Listeners choose what they hear and in what order.
The Interactive Podcast
We handled the technology behind the podcast, as well as the communication and activation leading up to its launch. Working closely with Essent, we wrote the content for all components. Over 15 different speakers are featured, including the CEO and the director of PSV. Additionally, we used videos, posters, and personal invitations to activate the campaign. The safari theme allowed listeners to chart their own path. After completing the safari, listeners could continue discussing the strategy online with colleagues. They could spin a digital wheel within the podcast module that presented questions to spark engaging conversations.
Results
Nearly 1,000 Essent colleagues listened to the Strategy Safari and were impressed. The evaluation showed that they rated the podcast an 8. Essent was so impressed with the campaign that it submitted it for a European Excellence Award.
